In her most recent life, Chandra had a divine calling to spread knowledge to the peasantry. To help them gain the knowledge of the mysteries of the world, the divine, and their reason for being. To give them hope that the world would one day be cleansed of evil, and that there were divine beings that cared about them and their plight.

She hoped that through the spreading of this knowledge the common people would be able to use this to prevent future travesty.

Traveling from town to town, Chandra both spread and gained knowledge. No place was too remote for her to visit, and so the brought the light of knowledge to the encroaching dark.

After two-hundred years of wandering, Chandra decided to settle down. She traveled to Sharall, a human city where she was welcomed by the citizens. She founded a library there and took on an apprentice, a young man with a thirst for knowledge named Tamaril For over 20 years she worked with him to spread manuscripts to nearby towns, and copy all that she had learned into many books. They grew close, and while he aged she remained ever the same.

Unbeknown to her, Tamaril was studying books on the occult in his quest to obtain all knowledge, even those books that were forbidden.

During this lifetime, Chandra felt that her divine purpose had been achieved, and after having experienced hundreds of lifetimes, she felt that it was time for her to ascend to the heavens to become an Astral being again. When she told Tamaril that she was leaving, he couldn’t stand the thought of losing her. He tried to plead with her to remain, but she knew that she had stayed too long.

It was then that Tamaril revealed that he had been searching for a path to immortality so that they could be together forever. Chandra was horrified to discover the lengths that he had gone to in order to gain this knowledge, all done in the name of her library. When she would not accept his actions, he knew his only chance was to wipe the slate clean and obtain her in another lifetime, so he slew her.

Chandra drifted in nothingness, for how long she could not say.

She awoke on a peak of the Eofel Mountains in a fresh body, with no memory of the events that had transpired in her previous life. A divine vision of Ioun greeted her.

“You have a purpose my child, greater than any your previous lives could have imagined. There is an evil at work in this world and I could wait no longer for my chosen servant. I have given you part of my divine essence, and you shall use it wisely for you have always acted wisely. You have much to learn in this incarnation, and time is short. Go forth, you shall know what is required of you when it presents itself.”

After Ioun was slain by the restored evil God the Unmaker, her Godhood passed to Chandra (who was the last vestige of the God’s power left in the World).

Chandra is now in the Astral Plane, attempting to hold onto her new place in the pantheon.
